Evaluation of the pilot-scale ESA unit at a painting facility located at Fort Hood Army Base in Texas

A field campaign evaluated the pilot-scale ESA unit at a painting facility located at Fort Hood Army Base in Texas . The pilot unit was installed next to a paint booth in which military vehicles and miscellaneous military items were painted.

Typical concentrations of organic vapors emitted from the paint-booth were 20?240 ppmv as MEK. The overall removal efficiency of the ESA system was > 99.7 %. Liquid-mass recovery of 75 % was achieved after regenerating the ACFC adsorbent.

The ESA technology has been patented as Vapor Phase Removal and Recovery System (VaPRRS). Evaluation of the VaPRRS unit at a painting facility provides encouraging results for the removal and recovery of organic vapors from gas streams that needs treatment before exhausting to the atmosphere and that are not possible with existing technologies.
